Hello Family and Friends! My name is Danielle DePaulis (formerly Catanzarite). I am married to the man of my dreams and feel blessed to have this opportunity at Irish. I am a first year classroom teacher at Irish. I have worked in the field of education for the past 15 years. I am originally from the magical and chilly city of Duluth Minnesota. I moved to sunny Fort Collins Colorado last year to join my husband as he was relocated for work. I am a mother of an amazing 19 year old daughter who has taught me what it means to be mother/teacher. I couldn't be more proud of her. I love Colorado and all the fun outdoor activities it has to offer. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, and rafting on the many rivers Colorado offers. I have always had a love of teaching and am in constant "awe" of child development. I love my students and the staff here at Irish. It is my new home away from home. I am primarily English Speaking and am embracing the challenge of learning a second language. I love being a lifelong learner!
I have an educational background in Early Childhood, and Child development, where I had worked with children ages 6 weeks to the first years of school. I have worked in the field of education for the past 15 years, and have earned a Master of Education Degree from the University of Duluth Minnesota. I have maintained my first aid and CPR certification my entire education career. This is my first year as an elementary classroom school teacher. I am loving it!!!
What I like best about teaching is my students. I love that I can come to school each day and see my students grow and achieve new goals. Where else can a professional receive daily hugs and spend their days doing exctly what they were born to do.
I have many favorite books as an adult, but some of my favorites are children's stories. I love books with a "lesson" in civility, kindness, and integrity. Any book that motivates children to read for fun earns a gold star.
My hobbies include: Spending time with my family, traveling, skiing (Nordic or back country-my down hill days are long gone), biking, hiking, and rafting.
Irish is a home away from home type of school. I feel so blessed to be a part of such strong a school community. Irish truly cares for each student and their respective family. Irish supports its staff and their families as well. I feel proud to be a part of something so wonderful!!
Favorite quote: Maya Angelou- "Now that I know better, I do better."
I am a first grade teacher with 19 children. First grade has many challenges as our chlldren are continuing to learn how to function in a school setting, take turns, feel their thoughts and opinions are valued, have a safe place to express themselves and feel a sense of belonging. We are learning more than Literacy and Math. We are learning how to become lifelong learners!
