I am enjoying my 9th year as principal of Irish Elementary, but it is not my first time being here. Many years ago, I was a student at Irish! I grew up in PSD schools, attending Bauder, Irish, Lincoln and graduating from Poudre High school. I was a music teacher for 10 years, moving on to get my master's degree in leadership and becoming an instructional coach, a professional development facilitator, and an assistant principal before coming to Irish. All my career I have worked in bilingual schools, learning Spanish from my mother who was also a teacher, as well as language immersion experience in Morelia, Mexico.
I have a bachelor's degree with an endorsement in ESL from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a master's degree in Administration Leadership and Policy from CU Denver.
I love to watch kids sing, play, and try new things...language learning is facintating for little ones!
For adults, I love Stienbeck's East of Eden and Rand's The Fountainhead. Now since my girls are in secondary schools, we love to read young adult novels together--The Fault In Our Stars, The Hunger Games Trilogy, and the Maximum Ride series, thanks to some inspirational teachers at Irish!
I have two daughters, one about to graduate and one in her junior year at CU. Together, we enjoy skiing, travelling, camping and paddleboarding. I like to run, play my guitar, and cook. Life is good!
I love how all our students, staff and parents are passionate about diversity, culture, and equality. High quality education for ALL students is the civil rights issue of our time, and I feel honored to work in such a community that respects and values that cause as much as I do. We have the best school in the universe.
