I grew up and went to college in Ohio. When my husband graduated from Purdue, we literally got out a map to figure out where we would want to move. We landed upon Colorado and are very glad we made that decision. We have lived here since 2002. Before working at Irish, I was an ELL (English language Learner) teacher in Delphi, Indiana for three years.
I have 2 children who both attend Irish. I am so happy that I get to see them every day at work! We enjoy hiking and camping together as a family.
I have my degree in elementary education from Miami University. I also have my Master's degree in linguisitically diverse learners and bilingual education from University of Colorado Boulder.
What I like best about teaching is getting to know the students' unique personalities and developing relationships with them! I love to see the joy on their faces when they discover something new.
I have many favorite books. I love reading historical fiction. I also like books by Donald Miller and my favorite was, "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years"
Some of my hobbies and interests are playing piano, playing basketball, hiking, and snowboarding.
One thing I LOVE about Irish is that our students learn both English and Spanish. It is fabulous that the native Spanish speakers get to learn to read and write in Spanish and that the English speakers learn Spanish as well. The dual language program is such a gift to all students.
