Mission and Vision

Vision

Irish Elementary Escuela Bilingüe students will graduate multilingual and biliterate; elevating all cultures, identities, and diverse perspectives, and meeting or exceeding grade level academic standards to become creative and critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and healthy, responsible, and compassionate global citizens.

Mission

We are here to empower every student by providing diverse and academically rigorous language immersion and learning experiences, cultivating critical thinking skills and social emotional competencies, and nurturing an environment that champions diversity, equity and belonging for all within the school community.

Our Beliefs About Student Learning

We believe that our students:

  • learn best when they are independent learners who experience wonder, questioning, ownership, and pride in their learning.
  • learn best through experiences of identity exploration and communication with others.
  • learn best through explicit modeling of important concepts, with high quality instruction in an environment of high expectations and mutual respect.
  • learn best when they have a sense of belonging in a safe environment of dignity where students’ needs are met and positive relationships exist within our school community.
  • are intrinsically motivated to learn when concepts are presented within authentic contexts, allow for productive struggle towards high standards, and respect the voices and experiences within a classroom.
  • reach grade level or above competencies when their home language(s) are valued, developed, maintained, and used as a bridge to access other language(s).
  • most effectively learn another language when they are consistently provided quality grade level instruction from educators who conscientiously employ strategies based on evidence-based practices and research in language acquisition.
  • will be life-long learners in a multicultural world when we  embed respect for our identities and the identities of others in instruction and our school culture.
  • benefit from a consistent implementation of a school-wide social-emotional learning system that allows students avenues of self-regulation and resiliency for a personal and holistic connection to themselves as well as the people and the world around them.
